Ben Kogvik, Secretary to the Board and Interpreter/Translator

Ben Kogvik has been with the Nunavut Water Board (NWB) since its inception in the mid 1990's and is currently the Secretary to the Board and doubles as in-house interpreter/translator, fluent in both Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun. Ben holds management certificates from the Banff Centre for Management Studies and the Nunavut Sivuliuqtit Program with Nunavut Arctic College/Canadian Centre for Management Development (1999). Ben is a former teacher, vice-principal and teacher consultant and has served as vice-president and president of the Inuit Teachers Specialist Council for the Northwest Territory.

Phyllis Beaulieu, Manager of Licensing

Phyllis Bealieu joined the NWB in April, 2002. She has 35 years of office administration experience, having occupied positions in the oil and gas industry and in the Department of the Environment in Nova Scotia, and in the Canadian Coast Guard in the Northwest Territories.

Don Carr, Technical Advisor

Don Carr moved to Gjoa Haven and joined the Nunavut Water Board in July, 2007. He previously lived in Ontario and recently graduated the University of Guelph in Honours Ecology & Resource Management.

Richard Dwyer, Licensing Administrator

Richard Dwyer has lived in Gjoa Haven since he was born. He completed Office Administration with Nunavut Arctic College and the Community Land Administration Certificate Program.

His past job experience was working as a librarian for the school, and as Community Land Administrator for the Hamlet of Gjoa Haven. He was hired as the License Administrator Trainee with the Nunavut Water Board September 2005.

Doreen Porter, Administrative Clerk

Doreen Porter is the Administrative Clerk at the Nunavut Water Board. Doreen attended school in Gjoa Haven and upgraded her education at Nunavut Arctic College. She completed the Community Office Procedure Program in Cambridge Bay in 1995 and has since accumulated 10 years of administration experience through working at the Municipal and Community Affairs, Nunavut Tungaavik Inc., Kitikmeot Inuit Association, the Hamlet of Gjoa Haven and others. Since joining the NWB, Doreen has continued to upgrade her office administration and computer skills. Doreen is also active in volunteer work in the community and has served on several committees that help youth
